About Me

John C. Kunes is a graduate of Chicago-Kent College of law, where he completed certificate programs in both Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution and Labor and Employment Law.  For three semesters, Mr. Kunes participated in handling a wide variety of employment and civil litigation matters through the Law Offices of Chicago-Kent, the College’s fee-based, teaching law firm.  Subsequently, Mr. Kunes held a judicial externship at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under Administrative Judge Young B. Kim.

In addition to helping individuals with chapter 7 and chapter 13 bankruptcy, Mr. Kunes represents employees in the private sector in employment discrimination, sexual harassment, Family and Medical Leave Act, and wage and hour matters.  Attorney Kunes also represents taxpayers with tax compliance and collections matters before the IRS.  He has received extensive training in taxpayer representation through the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers (ASTPS).  ASTPS is a national, IRS approved not-for-profit organization of professionals who specialize in representing taxpayers before the IRS.

Mr. Kunes is admitted in Illinois and is a member of the general bar and trial bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.  He is authorized to practice before the IRS nationwide.
